Dear Parents and Carers,

I am very excited to be stepping into the Deputy Principal position for the remainder of the year behind Mr Matt Reeves. It has been great getting to know the Year 9 cohort, and continuing my work with the Year 10 cohort alongside Acting Year 10 HOY Miss Isabella Dodd who has stepped into the role behind me.

Attendance Focus:

At Mackay High, we believe that every school day matters. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic success and overall wellbeing. When students attend every day, they stay connected to learning, friendships, routines, and the school community.

Even missing just one day a fortnight adds up to 20 days over a year - that’s a whole month of learning missed! Over time, these absences can have a serious impact on progress and confidence in the classroom.

We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable. If your child is struggling with attendance - whether due to illness, or other concerns please reach out to your year level team. We’re here to work in partnership with families to support every student’s success.
