AI and Assessment

At this of the term students will likely be involved in assessment work.

We would like to give a timely reminder about the use of AI or Artificial Intelligence.

Assessments are designed to assess what students can know and do in regards to a topic.

Getting AI to “write” an essay, report, project etc is not students completing their own work.

 AI should not be used to produce entire responses and then submitted as a student attempt.

The school, guided by our curriculum body, QCAA, has strict policies that we adhere too.

Students mark students on what students have actually produced themselves. Therefore, if AI is heavily used a student result will be very, very low.

Schools are learning how to best use AI; however, AI is not to simply “produce” or write an assignment for students.

Please speak with your child about their use of technology – including AI and be aware of how they are “working” on their assessments.
