Deputy Principal's Address
Parents and Guardians,
It’s been a vibrant and rewarding term so far at Mackay State High School, filled with
a variety of engaging experiences that truly reflect the spirit and dedication of our students and staff.
Over the past few weeks, our school calendar has been buzzing with a wide array of excursions and educational opportunities. These activities have not only enriched classroom learning but also provided students with practical, hands-on experiences that enhance their understanding and curiosity. Whether exploring career pathways, deepening subject knowledge, or engaging in cultural and community-based events, our students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and respect.
We’ve also taken time to recognise and celebrate our high achievers from Term 1. Through recent assemblies and presentations, students who have demonstrated outstanding academic success, commitment, and growth have been acknowledged. It’s a wonderful reminder of the excellence that is possible through hard work and consistent effort. Congratulations to all students who were recognised – your achievements inspire our whole school community.
As we move further into the term, we are entering a crucial period on the academic calendar – assessment season. Many students will be completing a range of important tasks, from exams and assignments to practical demonstrations and oral presentations. These assessments provide students with the opportunity to showcase what they’ve learned and identify areas for future growth. It’s essential that students are not only prepared academically, but also supported with good routines, healthy habits, and positive study environments at home.
We would like to remind families of the importance of consistent school attendance during this time. Every day counts, especially when students are revising content, receiving final instruction, or engaging in collaborative classroom activities that support their assessments. Missing even a few days can have a significant impact on student understanding and performance. We encourage all students to attend school every day, stay organised, ask for help when needed, and put their best effort into every task. Our staff are here to support them every step of the way.
Thank you to our families, staff, and wider community for your ongoing support. Mackay State High School continues to be a place where learning, achievement, and personal growth are celebrated every day.
